Gisela Cronan Professional Artist Even as a young child growing up in Kansas, Gisela Cronan's work was applauded as something unusually brilliant. From grade school paintings being selected for her schools permanent art display, to her modern day success, people always seem to connected with her art. As she entered the High School years her ambition included Architectural drafting, and serious fine art classes.
In 1967 she moved to central Florida where she ventured into many creative mediums such as faux painting, interior decorating, the study of floral design, and fine art mosaics. Early recognition of her work came in the form of many commissioned works for interested collectors. These experiences, she believes are the accumulation of creative skills and experience that have come together like a “recipe“ that make up her Fine Art brand today.
“The painting process flows naturally to me," said Gisela Cronan, "Painting everyday is a natural part of my life that I am driven to do. It’s intriguing and beautiful to use unconventional colors. Viewing abstract works of art breaks up our thought process of the norm. It opens the mind to see form in a different way."
Living in Florida for over 33 years has had a visible effect on her work. Present are tropical environments, and vivid uses of colors, that have transformed her beaches, ocean reefs, birds, flowers and trees, into her unique voice. Most notably are her horses.
Her love for horses started as early as her desire to draw them. Wanting a horse when she was young she would spend all day at the local horse ranch. Although she has never owned a horse, creating them on canvas brings her abstract impressionistic creations to life.
Cronan, often speaks of the many artists that have inspired her technique with their use of bright colors, Leroy Neiman, Pat Marshall and Teresa Payden just to name a few.
Cronan went on to relate that, “When I start a new horse painting I usually paint the eyes first. The eyes give a sense of mood and direction for me. Then as I paint, the painting tells me what to do.”
Gisela Cronan paintings seem to be designed to inspire while engaging the viewer into a greater story that projected through them. Currently, her work is being expanded into galleries throughout the Southern United States.
